NCWO initiated the preparation at the NGO Shadow Report to CEDAW

Started the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Family and Community Development.

  -

Legal Literacy – A woman and the Law, questions and answers book was published and distributed to women.

   -

A mentorship Leadership Training Programme Manuel was published and training carried out in Malaysia and at the (ACWO) ASEAN Confederation of Women's Organisations Conference

   -continued Political Leadership Training for young women of 18-38 years of age.
   -Strategic Planning Workshop held to review NCWO Vision and Mission for women.
1999  -Guardianship of Infants Act 1961.  This Act applied to States of West Malaysia only and was amended in 1999 to give equal rights of guardianship to mothers.
 1998  -The Distribution Act was amended.
 1996  -The Domestic Violence Act came into effect.
   -A National Orientation Programme on CEDAW was held for women leaders in collaboration with IRAW Asia Pacific.
   -A number of significant documents were translatedinto Bahasa Malaysia, for example the Jakarta Declaration, Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
   -The Women's Affairs Division was upgraded to a Department and now it is a Ministry.
 1995  -NCWO delegation attended the NGO forum in Beijing. NCWO Representative was also part of Government Delegation.
 1994  -An intergrated One Stop Crisis Centre(OSCC) was established for rape victims and battered women in Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
   -
TheDomestic Violence act was passed.
 1992  -NCWO participated in the activities of the Pre-Beijing Asia-Pasific NGO working Group and coordinated national activities.
 1991  -Each NCWO Commision drew up an action plan. these sectorial plans were incorprated into the NCWO NGO Plan Action for the implementation of The National Policy on Women.
 1990  -Urged the Ministry of Health to setup a Women's Hospital. Currently a Women and Children's Hospital is being setup.
   -NCWO Commisions were setup based onthe sectors contained in The National policy on Women.
 1989  -The Malaysian Cabinet accepted the National Policy on women in December.
   -The Rape Molestation Laws were amended.
   -A memorandum was submitted expressing NCWO's concern on privitization of medical services and calling for a National Health Policy.
 1988  -All school buses must have a uniform colour to facilitate recognition by other motorists.
 1987  -A series of consultations were held and a Memorandum on the National Policy on women was submitted at NACIWID and the Minister in charge of Women's Affairs.
 1985  -Obtained unrecored leave for the NCWO affiliate members to attend all educational activities, conferences etc. both at national and nternatioanl level.
 1981  -A Royal Commission was set up to study the Marrige and Divorce act 1976 for non-muslims. The Act came into force in1981.
 1978-1979  International Year of the Child. NCWO drew up and presented to Government a Choldren's Charter.
   -As a follow-up of the above in 1990 The Children's Protection Act replaced The Children and Young Person's Act 1957. the Act guaranteed greater protection of the child.
 1975  -Separate taxation for married women was achieved.
 1969  -Government implemented equal pay for work of equal value
   -NCWO President Tun Fatimah Hashim was appointed as 1st Women Minister
   -Datuk Paduka Aishah Ghani selected as member of the UN Commission on the status of Women
 1968  -Parliament passed the Married Women and Children (Enforcement Maintainance) act 1968
   -The Pensions AmendmentAct 1968 was gazetted giving women permanency in employment and pensionable status
